Trainability — Exceptional — one of the most trainable breeds; eager, intelligent and versatile.

Grooming — High. Brush 2–3 times weekly; heavy seasonal shedding ('German shedder'). Never shave the double coat.

Good with — Excellent family guardian with proper socialisation; protective, devoted and good with children when well-raised.

The double coat needs heat management in India — shade, water, AC and cool-hour exercise. The solid black coat may absorb more heat, so extra care in the sun.
