Coat — Dense, wiry, harsh 'broken' coat with a softer undercoat; the crinkly texture needs hand-stripping for show.

Recognised colours — Predominantly white with black, tan, or black-and-tan markings.

Spirited, bold, alert and playful. The classic energetic, mischievous wire terrier — full of character and drive.

Trainability — Moderate — clever but stubborn and independent; needs firm, engaging, consistent training.

Grooming — Moderate–high. Regular brushing plus hand-stripping (or clipping) every few months to maintain the wiry coat.

Good with — Good with active families and older children; strong prey drive means care with small pets.

Copes with Indian heat; the wiry coat offers some sun protection. Needs daily exercise and mental work.
