Origin — Tibet

Coat — Long, heavy, straight, hard top coat with a moderate undercoat; floor-length when shown, parted along the spine.

Recognised colours — Golden, sandy, honey, dark grizzle, slate, smoke, parti-colour, black, white or brown — all acceptable.

Temperament

Confident, independent, loyal and aloof with strangers. A 1,000-year-old Tibetan sentinel dog — alert and dignified.

Care & Training

Trainability — Moderate — intelligent but stubborn; patient, consistent training pays off.

Grooming — High. Daily brushing for a full coat; most Indian owners keep a practical short 'puppy cut'.

Good with — Best with considerate older children and calm homes. Devoted to family, reserved with outsiders.

Tibetan heritage means it prefers cool weather — a short summer clip is strongly advised for India; never leave in heat.
