Origin — Germany / Poland (Pomerania region)

Coat — Abundant stand-off double coat: soft fluffy undercoat with a long, harsh, glossy outer coat and a profuse ruff.

Recognised colours — The widest of any breed — orange, red, sable, cream, black, white, blue, brown, parti-colour, merle and more.

Vivacious, bold, extroverted and curious. A confident, lively little spitz that thinks it is much bigger than it is.

Trainability — Moderate–high — smart and trainable but can be vocal; early training curbs barking.

Grooming — High. Brush 2–3 times weekly to manage the double coat and seasonal shedding; never shave to the skin.

Good with — Best with gentle older children, seniors and calm homes. A popular, attention-loving companion in India.

The dense double coat traps heat — provide AC, shade and water; light line-brushing helps airflow. Avoid midday heat in India.
