🐾 Born to be with Dogs
Some passions choose you before you choose them.
It started in the early 90s on a sprawling 14-acre family estate — a world of plantations, open fields, horses, peacocks, rabbits and the kind of childhood that city kids can only dream of. Our father kept two dogs named Bomb and Bullet. Truth be told, they scared me at first. But dogs have a way of dissolving fear with love, and it wasn't long before I was completely at home with them.
The real obsession, though, began with a Dobermann named Penny — my uncle's dog. She was magnificent. And every time she had puppies, holding those tiny, warm bundles felt like nothing else in the world. That feeling never left me.
From that point on, dogs were always a part of our lives. We never had fewer than 20 in the house at any given time. When the family moved to Hyderabad, I got my first dog of my own — Trixie, a Dobermann. In our colony of 200 homes, I knew every single dog by name and visited them all daily.
Heartbreak, however, became one of my greatest teachers. Early on, I lost two of my dogs due to gaps in my knowledge about vaccination schedules and health checks. That loss pushed me to learn. Every Sunday, I would visit our local veterinary centre — not as a patient, but as a student. The doctors, seeing my genuine passion, took the time to explain everything. Illnesses, treatments, breed-specific conditions — I absorbed it all.
Over the years, what began as love grew into expertise. By 2017, I had 12 different breeds. By 2020, over 100 dogs across 30+ breeds — sourced locally, from across India, and imported from around the world.
In Shamshabad, we built what was one of India's largest private kennels — 3 acres of lush greenery, a true haven for our dogs. But nature had other plans. As the wilderness around us was cleared for new developments, snakes moved into the foliage of our kennel. We lost some of our beloved dogs to snake bites — a devastating chapter that forced us to rehome over 60 dogs and rethink everything.
Those that remained are with us today, at our farmhouse — happy, healthy and deeply loved.
The Canine Capital was born from all of this. Every consultation we offer, every breed we source, every dog we rescue — it comes from 30 years of lived experience, hard lessons, and an obsession that began with two dogs named Bomb and Bullet.
This isn't just our business. It's our life's work. 🐾
